The Alton Area Business and Professional Women's Club has been an active force in the community since 1926. It encompasses member from Alton, Godfrey, Wood River, Bethalto, Moro, East Alton, Hartford, Brighton and Cottage Hills. The Alton Area BPW is open to all individuals in Alton and the surrounding communities who supports the objectives and mission of the organization. Student membership is also available to student attending college full time. The membership represents a wide range of occupation; such as, teachers, managers, nurses, small business owners, instructors, and factory workers. We are a group with widely diverse backgrounds and ages who share a common goal of growth, promotion, and advancement for women BPW/USA has truly earned the reputation of being The Leading Advocate for Working Women.
The Alton Area BPW is affiliated with Region 4, the Illinois State Federation and the National Association of Business and Professional Women. BPW/USA has local organizations in every state; each has an active presence in the public policy at the state level. Also, the National is a powerful advocate for legislative issues affecting women. It combines the strengths of the Federation, the BPW Foundation, the BPW/USA PAC, and the BPW National Council on the Future of Women in the Workplace.
The Alton Area BPW has been very active during the years with many members being officers for the District and the State Organizations. Our local organization has had the honor of having two past State Federation Presidents.
Alton Area BPW meets monthly on the third Tuesday. A dinner meeting is held at 6:30 p.m., followed by a program of interest selected by the group. Active members can participate in BPW/USA at all levels and attend both State and National Conventions. |
