The Alton Area Business and Professional Women's Club has been an active force in the community since 1926. It encompasses member from Alton, Godfrey, Wood River, Bethalto, Moro, East Alton, Hartford, Brighton and Cottage Hills. The Alton Area BPW is open to all individuals in Alton and the surrounding communities who supports the objectives and mission of the organization. Student membership is also available to student attending college full time. The membership represents a wide range of occupation; such as, teachers, managers, nurses, small business owners, instructors, and factory workers. We are a group with widely diverse backgrounds and ages who share a common goal of growth, promotion, and advancement for women IFBPW has truly earned the reputation of being The Leading Advocate for Working Women.
The Alton Area BPW is affiliated with Region 4 and the Illinois State Federation . IFBPW has local organizations throughout the state; each has an active presence in the public policy. Also, the Illinois Federation is a powerful advocate for legislative issues affecting women.
The Alton Area BPW has been very active during the years with many members being officers for the Region and the State Organizations. Our local organization has had the honor of having two past State Federation Presidents.
Alton Area BPW meets monthly on the third Tuesday. A program of interest selected by the group is held every odd month at 6:30 p.m., Active members can participate on both levels and attend both local meetings and State Conventions. |
